About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document (Round 2) addressing maintenance requirements for generator equipment under a federal contract.
The document clarifies two key maintenance requirements for generators. First, regarding annual load-bank testing, contractors must perform a 2-hour load test annually for each generator in accordance with NFPA 110 and DAFMAN 32-1062 standards. Second, the annual maintenance schedule for each generator requires 12 total visits per year, consisting of: 10 Monthly Routine Inspections (PWS 5.3), 1 Semi-Annual Inspection (PWS 5.4), and 1 Annual Service (PWS 5.5) that includes both oil and filter changes and the 2-hour load-bank test. Contractors should price their maintenance proposals based on this 12-visit annual schedule rather than treating the annual service as an additional item beyond monthly inspections.
