MDVL212100, Repair Storm Drainage South of Bldg 203– RFI#2 6 Jan 2021
Question #1 – Can the existing water line be rendered inactive and removed during the course of the construction and then replaced with new to reconnect? Or, would it be more preferred to interrupt service and reroute the existing water line prior to executing the work on the drainage pipe?
No, the preferred approach is to temporarily support the water line as necessary during safe trenching operations, whether by use of trench box, sloping, benching, or a combination. No water service interruption is planned or expected. The existing water line is presumed to be ductile iron and above the existing storm drainage piping.
