QUESTION(S) AND ANSWER(S)

1. Can the sampling events be combined? I.e., can monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual samples be taken on the same site visits as the semi-monthly samples?

a. If allowed, we will of course provide additional sampling equipment, pumps as needed.

Response: Yes, sampling events can be combined. However, ALL sampling and analysis frequencies MUST be performed IAW the permit requirements.

For example, BOD needs to be sampled twice a month on non-consecutive days.

2. Is contractor allowed to determine what days samples will be drawn, or is this determined by

USAF?

a. If determined by USAF, what is the schedule?

Response: The contractor can determine the appropriate days to sample. However, all results for the current month must be completed and submitted to us prior to the 10th of the following month.

3. Section 5.1.2 Monthly Self-monitoring: All other sample types allow for either flow proportional or time-weighted composite, but time-weighted composite is not mentioned for Monthly samples. Is this accurate or is time-weighted composite acceptable here as well?

Response: Permit requirements state that that Boron, pH, and TDS shall be “Time proportional composite sampled over daily duration of discharge.”
