About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) document for Solicitation Number W50S72-25-Q-7201, dated 23 September 2025, providing clarifications about a security camera system procurement. The solicitation seeks a stand-alone, high-definition security camera with forward-looking infrared (FLIR) capabilities, specifically a single PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) camera with thermal imaging capabilities designed to detect heat images from aircraft engines during day and night. Key clarifications include that the camera does not need to connect to an existing Video Management System (VMS), the thermal camera is an additional camera to an existing system, and the thermal imaging capability is more important than the specific FLIR brand.

The Q&A also addresses installation details, noting that some conduit will be required to enter a secure area, after which J-hooks or raceways can be used for cabling. The building has a drop ceiling with tiles. Vendors are advised that the solicitation requires a thermal imaging camera capable of detecting heat signatures from aircraft engines, with flexibility on the specific manufacturer, focusing on the infrared capabilities rather than mandating a particular brand.

Solicitation Number: W50S72-25-Q-7201 Questions and Answers v1

Current as of 23 September 2025

Q1. Are you really looking for a FLIR Thermal Image Camera or a Regular Infrared Night Vision Camera?

A1. The thermal image is what is required. The camera needs to be able to detect heat images from the aircraft engine during the day and night.

Q2. Is there an existing VMS that this is connecting to? If so, what is the VMS? This is needed for both camera and joystick compatibility.

A2. There is no current VMS.

Q3. The specs say Stand-alone high-definition and forward-looking infrared (FLIR) capable security camera system with one autodome PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) style Internet Protocol (IP)" and also state "Selectable FLIR camera". Is this referring to 2 separate cameras, a camera with both a thermal and non-thermal camera, or just a single PTZ with thermal capabilities?

A3. Single PTZ with thermal capabilities

Q4. The picture shows an existing camera. Is this replacing the existing camera or an addition to this camera? If additional, is there a desired distance away from this camera that is required?

A4. Additional camera, image provided is a different camera system that will not need to be compatible or interact with the new camera.

Q5. What types of ceilings are inside of the building? Will conduit be required inside of the ceilings? or are j-hooks or raceways either available or acceptable in the ceilings for the cabling?

A5. Some conduit would need be ran to get into the secure area, once inside the secure area, J-hooks or raceways would work. The ceiling is a drop type with tiles.

Q6. Is the brand "FLIR" a requirement, or are you just looking for infrared capabilities in the camera.

A6. Just the capabilities.
