CCS#17327 - Replace Water Heater (VA033)

Questions and Answers Dated, March 16, 2020

Q1. How many valves need to be replaced? We saw a total of 4, but normally only 1 would be changed if needed.

A1. As per the Specification of Work, para. 11.5.4. - Contractor shall provide and install new valves as required.

Q2. Is the contractor to re-insulate all new piping installed?

A2. Contractor shall re-insulate in locations that were removed for install.

Q3. Is there any asbestos in the work area that we need to be aware of? Specifically in the insulation fittings and/or mastic?

A3. As per 99th environmental team: TSI previously found to contain asbestos was abated in 1997. The remaining water pipe insulation was sampled and confirmed negative for asbestos per 2006 survey.

Q4. On page 20 of the RFP, 11.7.1 Warranty, it states that "Contractor shall provide warranty on parts and labor for a period of 1 year, tank and heating element including labor for a period of 3 years." Normally, parts are covered for 3 years and labor is covered for 1 year. Please clarify.

A4. Contractor shall provide warranty on parts and labor for a period of 1 year, tank and heating element including labor for a period of 3 years.

Q5. Can the pipes be connected via Pro Press instead of soldering?

A5. Propress shall not be used. Soldering shall be the method by which unions are made. The 99th cannot guarantee the PH of the water supply eventually compromising the EPDM seal of a Propress system.

Q6. What voltage the water heater on the facility is operating on?

A6. Operating voltage is 208.
