Questions & Answers

W15QKN-17-R-1082

Grounds, Johnstown PA

1. Does "maintenance of fence lines 10 feet from fence" include trimming of limbs hanging over the fence? If so, at what height should they be maintained? Also, are all trees within 10 feet to be removed?

Answer: No, tree limb removal, and tree removal are not included in this contract.

2. Does "maintenance of trees" include removal of dead trees?

Answer: No, if tree(s) die, the condition will be taken care of outside the contract.

3. Should the wet areas along the parking lots and drainage areas containing cat tails be mowed and/or trimmed? Or should they be left as wetland areas?

Answer: Yes, these areas are to be trimmed to the point of (if any) standing water.

4. Do the landscape beds need weeded and maintained with new mulch?

Answer: No, the plant beds do NOT require any service. However as identified on the map along the covered walkway, they are required to be trimmed (weed whack).

5. When the map states maintain all trees and shrubs, does that just mean to trim around them and no actual trimming of trees or shrubs?

Answer: Only trimming (weed whacking) around the trees/shrubs, not trimming of the actual plant/trees is required.

6. Has any consideration been made to amend the solicitation with a one- time clean up bid? There are sections on the maps of areas that have never been cut.

Answer: Yes. A one-time clean up Contract Line Item Number has been added to the solicitation. No further allowances to bring grounds to a manageable level will be considered as identified in the Performance Work Statement paragraph 5.4.1.

7. There are large trees on sections that are marked grass on the map, do the requiring activity want the contractor to cut down these trees, pull stumps, remove rocks, bring in topsoil if necessary, seed and then cut these areas? Or is the map marked incorrectly?

Answer: The map is not marked incorrectly, we simply don’t show every individual tree/plant/shrub/rock etc. As previously stated, tree removal/trimming is not required, only trimming around the trees.

8. There is a fence at the ASF that is marked incorrectly on the map. The map has the fence running closely right and left to the guard shack however, when entering the property the fence is about 75 feet prior to it.

Answer: The map is correct. There is a personal fence and sliding gate on both sides of the guard shack.
