Seventh Questions and Answers for KEEP 06 November 2012
1. The “desert tan” color will be painted on the metal skin panels with a very durable baked-on paint. It will not be imbedded in the metal skin. Is that okay?
Answer: Yes. Baked on paint would be acceptable if the exterior skin is metal and would not require repainting.
2. The suppliers don’t have complete temperature testing to 45 degrees F. There is a possibility that some blistering may occur whereby the sheet metal “blisters” (or separates) from the polyurethane foam. They don’t anticipate that this will be a serious problem, but it could occur at those high temperatures. They haven’t yet determined the wind speed conversion in miles per hour. Approximately how fast is 29.5 m/s when converted to miles per hour?
Answer: 66 miles per hour.

Answer: The anchoring method is part of the vendor design based on their product and environmental considerations detailed in the PWS.

Answer: Either direction.

Answer: Vendors are free to offer their best design based on PWS requirements.
8. Will the buildings have a flat roof or a sloped roof?
Answer: The design is up to the vendor as long as PWS requirements are met.
9. If sloped, will it be shed roof design or gable roof design?
10. What slope?
11. Do the roof panels need to overhang the wall panels or just extend to the outer edge of the wall panels?
12. If overhang, how far?
13. Can the electrical be surface be mounted? They can provide a modular system that is mostly surface mounted so it will be relatively easy to assemble and disassemble.
14. Could you please provide a source or URL link to the Kuwait Ministry of Energy General

http://www.mew.gov.kw/
23. There are a number of different electrical standards cited within the PWS under section 2.0, Applicable Documents. As it pertains to wiring methods, these standards do conflict. Can we assume that the overriding standard will be the Kuwait Ministry of Energy General
Specifications for Electrical Installation (which we believe makes the most sense)?
Answer: The Kuwait Electrical Specification and the standards specified within that document are to be used unless a more stringent requirement that does not conflict with this standard is called for elsewhere.
24. Referencing the IBC standards cited within the PWS under section 2.0, Applicable
Documents: Under IBC, an R-1 building (transient lodging), requires 1-hour fire-rated walls, and also requires and STC-50 sound-rated walls between dwelling units. We can provide the non-combustible SIP panel (structural insulation panel) construction, which will meet the required R-values. This is consistent with the PWS and the intent to have field-erected, re-deployable structures. However, we believe that meeting these other IBC requirements would not be consistent with the project intent (it would result in very heavy walls and a construction methodology that does not lend itself to being rapidly re-deployable). Can the project take exception to the 1-hour fire rating requirements and the STC-50 sound-rated walls?
Answer: see section 3.3.1 of the PWS.
25. Do you have any information in reference to the Geo report at the proposed site?

1925-10.
