SCOPE OF WORK
Fire Alarm Installation, Bonham VAMC Project 549A4-13-1302
DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
This purpose of this project is to remove the existing Fire Alarm System and to provide and install a new Mass Notification Fire Alarm and associated components for Buildings 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 19, 20, 23, 24, 29, and 32, Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center, 1201 E. 9th Street, Bonham, Texas 75418.
The contractor shall completely prepare site for construction operations. Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment and supervision to demolish and remove existing fire alarm components and to provide and install a new Mass Notification Fire Alarm System and associated components. All work shall be performed in accordance with this Statement of Work, Specifications and Drawings.
Work includes general construction, alterations, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, fire alarm devices, mass notification devices, alarm certification, and related work for build back. Contractor must field verify existing conditions and may be asked to perform some work outside of normal business hours due to continuous operations of the facility.
Electronic versions of the Construction Documents will be provided. A pre-bid meeting will be held at the project site to allow prospective bidders an opportunity to become familiar with project requirements and ask questions.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Contractor shall ensure that all personnel performing work on this contract has, as a minimum, the following certifications:
1. The National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET), Level II, is required.
2. Texas Department of Insurance State Licensure, Fire Alarm Technician (FAL), is required.
3. All assigned technicians must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in fire alarm/fire sprinkler installation, inspection and service.
4. All installers/inspectors shall be “Notifier Factory Trained (NFT)” to service and program Notifier 3030 fire alarm systems and components.
STATE OF TEXAS LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS:
Contractor shall possess the following State of Texas Licenses/Registrations:
1. ACR (fire alarm)
2. ACR-SS (monitoring)
3. APS - fire alarm superintendent
4. SCR – fire sprinkler
5. SCR – U (sprinkler certificate of registration – underground)
6. RME - Responsible Managing Employee
SCHEDULE OF WORK:
Scheduled project meetings will consist of a Preconstruction meeting where a Notice to Proceed (NTP) will be issued. VA project representatives will be present to provide input and initial direction. All contact with project user groups outside stated scheduled project meetings will be scheduled and facilitated by the General Contractor (GC) in coordination with the Contracting Officer Representative (COR).
Majority of work is expected to be completed during normal working hours, Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 5:00pm.
The contractor is expected to furnish a schedule; phasing dates intended to complete work. See GENERAL REQUIREMENTS 1.7 OPERATIONS AND STORAGE AREAS, H. Phasing. Contractors are subject to all rules and regulations of the VA Medical Center.
PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE:
Construction duration is expected to last 24 months. An Architect and Engineering (AE) Firm will review and respond to Contractor submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs), and will make recommendations on the VA’s acceptance of Contractor Change Proposals. Work must not interfere with facility operations and will be accomplished in accordance with local and state building codes, NFPA, NEC, VA guidelines and industry standards.
