UNITED STATES MINT REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI)
DATA MART AND DATA WAREHOUSE
USM-RFI-14-0001
1.0 INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVE
The United States Mint's Information Technology Department (ITD) has identified a need for the implementation of an enterprise data warehouse environment to include individual business unit specific data mart access layers.
The purpose of this Request For Information (RFI) is to obtain industry information and identify potential sources capable of replacing the United States Mint’s current data mart solution with a robust analytics and decision support system that will provide timely and cost-effective access to relevant sales campaign information for product development projects and miscellaneous marketing efforts. This information is being sought for market research and acquisition planning purposes only.
2.0 GENERAL INFORMATION
The United States Mint anticipates that implementation of the overall solution will occur in a phased approach. The first phase will be to implement an individual data mart and/or possibly an entire data warehouse for the Sales and Marketing Department (SAM). Vendors are requested to submit information for both a data mart only solution and a data mart with data warehouse solution.
Ultimately, the United States Mint intends to implement an enterprise data warehouse environment that will serve as a central repository for data by integrating data from one or more disparate sources in order to provide storage of and access to current/historical transactional, product, customer, and other relevant information/data.
The desired Data Warehouse solution will improve the ability of the United States Mint to:
• Integrate sales and marketing transactional, product, customer, and other relevant information/data from multiple systems into a single repository.
• Provide a single repository for current, future, and legacy sales and marketing transactional, product, customer, and other relevant information/data to its business units for both decision support and data retention purposes.
• Provide data warehouse framework for utilization by other business units (i.e. Financial Department, Manufacturing Department, Workforce Solutions Department, etc.) to accommodate for future growth.
The desired Data Mart solution will improve the ability of the United States Mint to:
• Provide access to sales and marketing transactional, product, customer, and other relevant information/data at current service levels once the new order management system has been fully implemented.
• Provide a readily available system to the United States Mint for querying that is capable of producing ad hoc and/or customized reports, recurring reports, and dashboards in a short period of time.
