$250,000)

Name and Location of the organization making the purchase:

Federal Highway Administration Quantum Park, 22001 Loudoun County Parkway Building E2, Suite 200 Ashburn, VA 20147

Describe supplies and/or services being procured:

Trimble survey grade equipment is Eastern Federal Lands primary hardware and software for collecting, processing, and mapping the civil enegineering data. The SX12 robotic instrument will enhance the field data collection through HD live video for topographical conventional surveying.

This allows the user 10 times more zooming capability than the usual eyepiece. The GNSS R12i receivers will allow more accurate surveys even when the rod is slightly tilted. We currently use all Trimble products for our survey deliverables. We have been using Trimble products for over a decade with minimum downtimes.

Name and Contact Information of Required Source:

Authorized Trimble Resellers

Rationale supporting specific brand name acquisition under the simplified acquisition threshold (Authority under FAR 11.105(a)(1) and FAR 13.501(a)(1))

The Trimble TSC7 data collector, R12i and SX12 are all Trimble products. The division utilizes Trimble survey equipment and software for field data collection, processing, and mapping compilation. By purchasing Trimble products there will be no issue with compatibilty with equipment (Robotic Total stations & GNSS receivers) and software (Trimble Business Center & RealWork) that the division uses.

The new Trimble TSC7, R12i and SX12 units will replace old, worn, and damaged Trimble S6, TSC3 and 5800 units. The old Trimble units will be replaced with a newer model that is more precise, reliable, faster, user friendly, and increases data collection productivity. Based on market research and past performance of the current use of the Trimble equipment, it is in the Government’s best interest to continue the Trimble equipment. To change product and or brand will have a significant negative impact from data collection to delivery. The in-office software will involve reinstalling several new softwares, which will need IT approval and hours of downtime.
