About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document for a Refuse and Waste Disposal Services Request for Proposal issued by the City of Calhoun, Georgia. The RFP solicits proposals for residential and commercial waste removal services, including residential carts (primary and additional), commercial 96-gallon carts, and 8-yard front-load containers. The proposal submission deadline is January 20, 2026 at 10:00 a.m., with proposal reviews commencing at 2:00 p.m. the same day. The contract is scheduled to commence on February 1, 2026, following a 30-day transition period with the current provider, Mauldin. Technical inquiries should be directed to Shane Cox, Public Works Director, at 706-602-6027 or scox@calnet-ga.net, while purchasing inquiries should be directed to Sarah Wiggins at 706-602-5680 or swiggins@calnet-ga.net.

The current contract pricing structure charges $8.40 per month for residential carts with an additional $5.00 per month for extra carts, and the City bills all services under one invoice, with separate line items for residential, commercial, and miscellaneous services. Redbone Ridge landfill is the preferred but not mandatory disposal facility. Notarization is required for documents where specified in the RFP. Performance bonds and certain forms (Pages 16 and 17) are required only upon contract award, not at proposal submission. The incumbent provider is Mauldin, and the City seeks cost savings at the landfill level to benefit residential pricing and overall program affordability.
