Salient Characteristics Sheet – Transponder

Transponder Salient Characteristics

Physical characteristics:

-Dimensions cannot exceed: Width 64 mm, Height 89 mm, Depth 26 mm -Weight: Must weigh 190 grams or less -Power Draw: 3 Watts or less -Transmit Power: 250 Watts or greater

Essential Characteristics:

-Must be AIMS certified.

-At a minimum must be compatible with Mode 3/C, with preference for Mode 3/S, and ADS-B Out.

-Designed for Group 1 and Group 2 UAS platforms as SWaP are a priority. Can be integrated into an autopilot software.

Functions to be performed:

-Transponder will be integrated into Group 1 and 2 UAS platforms that run off an open-source autopilot software.

-Transponder must be able to be turned on and off for various missions.

Will be used as the primary method for traffic deconfliction in the airspace the UAS platforms will be operating.
