Town_of_Manchester_2023_Holiday_Calendar.pdf

The document is a 2023 Holiday Calendar for the Town of Manchester, Connecticut's Human Resources Department, detailing the official holidays observed by the municipal government. The calendar lists 14 holidays for the year, including standard federal and state holidays such as New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, Washington's Birthday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Some notable inclusions are Juneteenth and Good Friday, with the document specifying the exact dates of observance for each holiday. The town also reserves the right to use a floating holiday in lieu of the traditional Lincoln's Birthday, with the requirement to notify employees by December 31st of the preceding year.

The holiday calendar provides flexibility for municipal employees, with specific dates for holiday closures clearly outlined. Unique aspects include observing New Year's Day on Monday, January 2nd (likely due to the holiday falling on a Sunday), and having both Thanksgiving Day and the day after Thanksgiving as official closed days. The floating holiday provision for Lincoln's Birthday demonstrates the town's administrative discretion in managing employee time off, allowing for potential schedule adjustments while maintaining the spirit of recognizing historical observances.
