1.1 BACKGROUND
1.1.1 USS Cheyenne (SSN 773) Emergency Diesel Generator (EDG) is scheduled for engine overhaul and renewal in July 2022 at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (PNSY). An inspection of the EDG is required prior to the start of the engine overhaul to establish base conditions of the engine and review the engine history before the engine is placed into an inactive equipment maintenance status, wherein these inspections will not be accomplishable. The results of the inspections and review will be used to enhance the requirements and maintenance performed during the upcoming planned engine overhaul.
1.2 SCOPE OF WORK
1.2.1 The scope of work for this Task Order is to accomplish as found/initial inspections of the SSN 773 EDG. The purpose is to capture data that will be unobtainable at the start of the EDG renewal in a minimally intrusive way. The scope of work includes the following inspections:
· Vertical drive inspection.
· Engine injection timing inspections.
· Engine crankshaft lead inspection.
· Crankcase inspection.
· Engine to generator alignment inspection.
· Review machinery history and engine performance data.
