Subject: SICPS TMSS Tent/Shelter interchangeabilty & Substituability (I&S) Recommendation

TMSS supportability. Current DRASH models are nearing their 12 year life cycle and are subject to extended procurement lead times:

a. AirBeam model Series 32, NSN 8340-01-657-0010 (large green)

b. AirBeam model Series 32, NSN 8340-01-657-0038 (large tan)

c. AirBeam model Series 20, NSN 8340-01-656-3890 (medium green)

d. AirBeam model Series 20, NSN 8340-01-656-3894 (medium tan)

3. The change affects the SICPS Family of the TMSS Medium and Large products

(LINs P63394 and P63462) TMSS-Large models PU-824A/T, PU-824B/T, and PU- 824C/T Utility Power Plants DRASH J series Tent and the TMSS-Medium models PU-821/T, PU-821A/T, PU- 822A/T, and PU-822B/T Utility Power Plants.

4. These AirBeam model tent/shelters are compliant as "drop-in" replacement that should be integrated into the current TMSS configurations and replace the DRASH tents through attrition. They comply with I&S standards and meet configuration management form, fit, and function requirements. TMSS systems are required to operate on the battlefield and integrate with DRASH, AirBeam, and Base-X tents.

This has been verified during independent testing by ATEC on behalf of Product Manager Force Sustainment Systems (PdM FSS) and during the Network Integration Evaluation (N.I.E) 14.2 event at Ft. Bliss, TX. The MIL-PRF-961E standards governing tentage has been met.

5. The NSNs are DLA managed and readily available using the DoD supply system, along with required support component parts. When the new AirBeam tent is requisitioned, the user will receive all required ancillary items to raise the tent.

6. PdM CPI2 requests all DLA databases to be updated to reflect this I&S mission performance and Army readiness for unit replacement when DRASH tents are not mission capable (NMC), not economically repairable, or missing. A Mil-Std 1432A compliant manual is to be prepared for the AirBeam tent/shelters by PdM FSS from the existing HDT Global COTS manual. The TMSS technical manuals will list these AirBeam items as Additional Authorized Items (AAI) list.

7. The Point of Contact (POC) for this request is David Meickle, 443-395-2642, david.w.meickle.civ@mail.mil.
