Exploring the TSP Investment Funds

An Interactive Guide to Investing in the TSP

Exploring the TSP Investment Funds Welcome to your guide to retirement planning and investing in the Thrift Savings Plan!

This guide has three lessons – the basics, the five individual TSP funds, and the L Funds – which introduce you to retirement planning, investment fundamentals, and all of the TSP funds. Be sure to check out the calculators (and the games)! They’re all designed to help you make your TSP decisions.

If you want a shortcut, go directly to the L Funds lesson.

You’ll learn about our lifecycle funds, which are designed for people who don’t have the time, experience, or desire to create and manage their own investment strategy – a perfect fit for many TSP participants.

The DVD should start playing automatically as soon as you put it into your computer, but some users’ security settings prevent this. If the DVD does not start on its own, you can open it yourself:

For Windows users: Double click the “My Computer” icon on the desktop.

For Mac users: Click on the “Finder” icon in your dock. From this screen look for a DVD drive with the name “Learning the TSP Invest. Funds.”

Double click this icon to start the DVD.

If the DVD does not start at this point, your computer will open the DVD folder instead. In the DVD folder, double click the appropriate “Start” icon for your system (“PCStart.exe” for PC or “macstart” for Macintosh).
