About this file

This file consists of Addendum #1 to a roofing project specification and a material procurement document for the 2027 Thorne Roof Project at Thorne Elementary School in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, involving Westwood Community Schools and Garland Company, Inc. The addendum clarifies specifications raised during a pre-bid meeting, addressing roofing installation requirements across multiple sections of the school building. Key specifications include installation of tapered insulation systems with polyisocyanurate base, expansion joints, raised curbs and perimeter elements to meet flashing requirements, and counter-flashing installations at high walls. The addendum confirms that bid bonds and performance bonds are required, and that contractors bear the cost of permits. A pre-bid meeting was held with an attendance sign-in sheet provided in the addendum. The material procurement section lists specific roofing products required across five sections (Sections 2, 3, 11, 12, 13, and 14) with varying quantities, including VersiPly, HPR Torch Base, StressBase, StressPly Plus, Garlastic KM Plus, InsuLock HR, Black Knight Cold, and SilverShield Aluminizer.

Westwood Community Schools intends to procure materials directly from Garland Inc. through the Omnia Partners Government Purchasing Alliance's competitively solicited program for Roofing Supplies and Related Products and Services, based on Sealed Bid #PW-1925 issued by the Racine County Board of Commissioners. Bidders are required to submit specific order quantities for each material and section, with responsibility for obtaining product information and pricing from the Garland representative prior to submission. The document emphasizes that bidders bear full responsibility for material quantities entered and that any additional materials required beyond submitted quantities will be billed directly to the bidder. Material quantities will be cross-referenced against an expected project take-off, and bids with quantities substantially below or above anticipated requirements may be rejected without detailed explanation.
