1. Purpose

1.1. Electromagnetic Interference/Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMI/EMC) testing per MIL-STD-461G and DOD-STD-1399 is required by Temporary Alterations Manual S9070-AA-MME-010/SSN/SSBN. This applies to new equipment installed shipboard in order to properly characterize the impact to and from submarine systems due to electromagnetic interference. All TEMPALT equipment shall be tested to MIL-STD-461G requirements.

1.2. PMS390, the procuring activity for the 7TV TEMPALT, issued Liaison Action

Record Form (LAR PSNSY – 0013 – 21) specifying testing to be performed for the replacement monitor.

1.3. Equipment under test (EUT) includes Stealth monitor (SV-2510WS-PM-RT), power cable, signal cable and equipment mentioned in section 4.2.

1.4. The purpose of this test plan is to provide remaining testing requirements for the 7TV Monitor while powered up and displaying an image.

2. Testing Required

2.1. The TEMPALT manual requires the following EMI/EMC testing per MIL-STD-

461G Table V be evaluated for a specific system/project to determine testing applicability.

CE101 - Applicable to submarine applications

CE102 - Applicable to submarine applications

CE106 - Limited as specified in the individual sections of MIL-STD-461G

CS101 - Applicable to submarine applications

CS103 - Procuring activity must specify requirement in procurement documentation

CS104 - Limited as specified in the individual sections of MIL-STD-461G

CS105 - Procuring activity must specify requirement in procurement documentation

CS109 - Limited as specified in the individual sections of MIL-STD-461G

CS114 - Applicable to submarine applications

CS115 - Procuring activity must specify requirement in procurement documentation

CS116 - Limited as specified in the individual sections of MIL-STD-461G

CS117 - Procuring activity must specify requirement in procurement documentation

CS118 - Procuring activity must specify requirement in procurement documentation

RE101 - Applicable to submarine applications

RE102 - Applicable to submarine applications

RE103 - Limited as specified in the individual sections of MIL-STD-461G

CUI Page 3 of 6

RS101 - Limited as specified in the individual sections of MIL-STD-461G

RS103 - Applicable to submarine applications

RS105 - Limited as specified in the individual sections of MIL-STD-461G

2.2. The following MIL-STD-461G tests are not applicable or already performed by manufacturer:

CE106 – Applicable for antenna ports of transmitters, receivers, and amplifiers have frequency from 10kHz to 40Ghz. The Stealth monitor does not have RF ports.

Recommend CE106 testing not be required.

CS103 – Applicable for equipment and subsystems that are communications receivers such as RF amplifiers, transceivers, radar receivers, acoustic receivers, etc. The Stealth monitor does not have RF ports. Recommend CS103 testing not be required.

CS104 – Applicable for equipment and subsystems that are communications receivers such as RF amplifiers, transceivers, radar receivers, acoustic receivers, etc. The Stealth monitor does not have RF ports. Recommend CS104 testing not be required.

CS105 – Applicable to receivers that process amplitude modulated RF signals. The Monitor does not use amplitude modulated RF signals. Recommend CS105 testing not be required.

CS109 – Applicable to equipment that has an operating frequency of less than 100 kHz and an operating sensitivity of 1 µV or better (i.e. 0.5 µV). Monitor does not have an operating sensitivity of 1 µV or better. Recommend CS109 testing not be required.

CS115 – Not required by the procuring activity. Recommend CS115 testing not be required.

CS116 – Applicability requirements of MIL-STD-461G 5.14.1 are for cables that penetrate the pressure hull. Cabling associated with the Monitor does not penetrate the pressure hull. Recommend CS116 testing not be required.

CS117 – Not required by the procuring activity. Recommend CS117 testing not be required.

CS118 – Not required by the procuring activity. Recommend CS118 testing not be required.

RE103 – This test is an alternative for CE106 for testing transmitters. CE106 is not applicable. Recommended RE103 testing not be required

RS101 – Limited to equipment and subsystem enclosures, including electrical cable interfaces that range between 30Hz and 100kHz and an operating sensitivity of 1 µV or better (i.e. 0.5 µV). Monitor does not have an operating sensitivity of 1 µV or better.

Recommend RS101 testing not be required.

RS105 – Applicable to equipment that is operated on non-metallic platforms. The monitor will operate on a metal submarine platform.

2.3. The following MIL-STD-461G and DOD-STD-1399-070 tests are remaining for the monitor.

CE101 – Conducted Emissions, Audio Frequency Currents, Power Leads

CE102 – Conducted Emissions, Radio Frequency Potentials, Power Leads

CS101 – Conducted Susceptibility, Powers Leads

CS114 – Conducted Susceptibility, Bulk Cable Injection

RE101 – Radiated Emissions, Magnetic Field

RE102 – Radiated Emissions, Electric Field

RS103 – Radiated Susceptibility, Electric Field
