About this file
This document is a technical specification from the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) for the procurement of sliding rail expansion joints. The MBTA seeks to purchase 12 pairs (12 left-hand and 12 right-hand) of sliding rail expansion joint assemblies to replace existing expansion joints on ballasted track on the Rapid Transit and Light Rail Transit lines. The specification details the design, fabrication, testing, shop assembly, inspection, packaging, and delivery requirements for the expansion joints in accordance with industry standards. The successful bidder must be able to deliver the expansion joints within 120 days of shop drawing approval by the MBTA.
The related state and local contract opportunity is for IFB 87C-21 Sliding Rail (Conley Type) Expansion Joints for Bridge Applications, issued by the state of Massachusetts. The contract is for the supply of sliding rail expansion joints for bridge applications, likely similar to the MBTA's requirement. No additional details on pricing, set asides, incumbents, funding, or other salient information are provided in the given document.
