About this file
This document outlines a federal contract opportunity for an industrial lint blowdown system. The Department of Veterans Affairs intends to issue a Request for Proposals for a lint blowdown fan system to be installed at the VA Medical Center in St. Albans, New York. The system is to help control the direction of lint and force it to the floor, preventing accumulation in overhead areas of the textile facility and mechanical room. Technical specifications include a 1.5HP motor, 140 degree oscillation, 360 degree rotation, electrical and terminal block enclosures, self-lubricating bearings, extended shroud, and central control panel with emergency interlocks, timers, lock-out capabilities, motor starters, variable frequency drive, and setup for minimum three zones. Responses are requested by small businesses by February 8, 2021 for the $238,290 contract to be awarded under NAICS code 333318 with a small business size standard of 1,000 employees.

ITEM # 1 –Industrial lint Blowdown fan system
Furnish, install and commission (Qty. 1) industrial robotic high-velocity, high mass-cleaning fan system consisting of 360-degree rotation and 140-degree oscillation fans to help create an overhead barrier in the laundry production area [and mechanical room] ceilings by controlling the direction of the lint and forcing it to the floor by preventing upward currents and stagnant air, preventing significant accumulation of lint in overhead and hard-to-reach places when system is in operation. The system will be designed to cover the entire textile facility and textile mechanical room.
