About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers document related to the TCSG-422A-DP/CM CGA Building A WAM Renovation project in Milledgeville, Georgia. The project involves renovations to the current automotive lab to add curricula specific to Electric Vehicles as well as converting spaces into a larger lab space to house a Mechatronics/Industrial Maintenance program. Key requirements include increasing the height of the bay door, installing appropriate lifts, an EV charging station, and providing space for compressed air, electrical drops, and flexible modular training aids. The project manager must be 100% committed, and a phased construction schedule is required for the auto-lab area, while the other areas can be completely offline during construction. No superintendent or CCS office space will be provided within the building.

The document provides additional details on the power requirements, including 120V, 240V, and 480V electrical service as well as compressed air, which are needed to support the flexible lab configuration. Pricing, funding sources, and other commercial terms are not included in this Q&A document.

TCSG-422A-DP/CM

CGA Building A WAM Renovation – Baldwin County

Milledgeville, Georgia Step II – Questions & Answers

1. Can our Project Manager be 50% committed to this project instead of 100%?

No, GSFIC/TCSG requires the project manager to be 100% committed to this project.

2. Is a phased construction schedule required?

A phased plan will need to be established for the auto-lab as that program cannot go offline. The programming phase will provide more information as to what construction will be involved for that specific room. The other area will not need to be a phased approach as it can completely go off-line.

3. Will CGTC be able to accommodate space within the building for a superintendent’s office?

No

4. Will CGTC be able to accommodate space within the building for a CCS’s office?

No

Additional Project Information:

The renovation to the current automotive lab will be necessary to add curricula specific to Electric Vehicles, which is essentially an add-on to the current ASE program. Key points from that portion of the project include:

• Increasing the height of the bay door.

• Installation of the appropriate lifts

• An EV changing station that is perhaps located on the apron behind the shop area.

• The stand-alone battery storage/servicing space that was discussed at the meeting.

Everything else should be pretty standard to a lab space such as compressed air, non-slip floor coatings, lighting, etc. In the Egnyte link there are a couple of curricula documents pertaining to types of EV programming we are interested in adding.

Secondly, the spaces that are to be renovated into a larger lab space will house a Mechatronics/Industrial Maintenance program. The key to this space will be flexibility as we utilize a great deal of mobile/modular training aids, which allow us to reconfigure the lab as necessary. In essence, we would like ample access to compressed air, electrical drops, etc. to allow for that flexibility. In speaking with the Program Chair and instructional faculty, their prime concerns are access to:

• 120 V

• 240 V

• 480 V (some provision for this power, but does not require as many significant number of access points)

• Compressed air.
