3. Or, is this to be a prefabricated/manufactured shelter similar to the smoke shelters in front of the adjacent building?

Answer: Lumber Prefab trusses/structure or on site construction is at the contractor's discretion.

4. Are conceptual drawings to be submitted as part of my proposal?

Answer: Conceptual drawings already exist in the solicitation attachment along with other project/structure requirements. Ensure that construction is per the solicitation attachment design criteria.

5. Has the paint been lead tested?

Answer: No test have been performed. Lead paint does not have to be removed; only encapsulated.

6. Will the awarded contractor need to provide a full set of Architectural plans along with MEPs for the project?

Answer: No, this is a field construction. The contractor will only be inspected to ensure the structure meets the solicitation attachment conceptual appearance and construction criteria along with conformance to any applicable ICC code or NEC code regulations. (while a permit is not required per section 10 of the solicitation, there will be a third party certified DC inspection company performing inspections (again) per section 10)

7. Will there need to be footings for the enclosure posts?

Answer: the slab and footings have already been poured to meet the needs of a lumber structure matching the needs of the concept structure in the solicitation attachment

8. What materials would AFRH like to use to build vertical supports (wood, masonry, steel)?

Answer: Anticipated material is lumber, but it Continued ...

may be any good sturdy and durable material that matches the solicitation attachment requirements, look, and intent.

9. What materials would AFRH like to use to build horizontal roof structure (wood or Steel)?

Answer: Anticipated material is lumber, but it may be any good sturdy and durable material that matches the solicitation attachment requirements, look, and intent.

10. What materials would AFRH like to use for the roof system (built up, rubber, metal)?

Answer: Anticipated material is translucent roof panels, but it may be any good sturdy and durable material that matches the solicitation attachment requirements, look, and intent. (Something like pictures in the link provided below is imagined http://www.houzz.com/translucent-roof-panels)

11. Does AFRH want a gutter and a drainage system? If so which type? Similar to what is on the building?

Answer: No, gutter. The concept does not call for one.

12. Does AFRH have a count of how many exterior lights should be included? Also, is there a specific type of light desired or something on location that we could match for pricing?

Answer: For a structure of this size, I would imagine (4) 60 Watt fixtures with a cost value of $40 each and a central fan with a value of $290.

13. Does AFRH want any convenience outlets included?

Answer: One outlet would be acceptable, but not necessary. It cannot be visible per the conceptual in the solicitation attachment.

14. Is any type of soffit/ceiling required for structure?

Answer: Neither a soffit nor a ceiling is desired per the concept, but a roof is required.

15. Will there any sides required to shelter? If so what material would be desired (glass, plastic, vinyl)?

Answer: No siding is desired per the concept, but facia to hide the screens is required per the concept.

16. Is there any structure on sight that would be good to match all the finishes to?

Answer: Finishes should as closely resemble the conceptual drawing in the solicitation as possible, but the adjacent structure (Quarters

40) can be used for reference if the conceptual does not provide enough detail. Remember, the main intent is to match the look of the concept in the solicitation attachment as closely as possible. This concept has been approved by multiple government entities; therefore variance is not desired.

17. Have any previous tests been conducted for removal of paint residue without damage to the masonry?

Answer: No, understand that we are not looking for a restoration. The intent is to tidy up the walls and areas that the demoed addition was attached to.
