About this file

This document is a Vactor Truck Purchase Specifications guide that establishes minimum technical requirements for a debris collection vehicle system. The specifications are organized into eight categories covering all major truck systems and components.

The Debris Body & Dump System must feature steel construction with minimum 50,000 psi yield strength, a 15 cubic yard (3,000 gallon) capacity, double-acting hydraulic dump hoist, full-opening rear door with neoprene sealing, and hydraulic door cylinders. Additional requirements include a body flush-out system capable of ≥2,500 psi @ 60 gpm with 8+ nozzles, piping rated to 3,000 psi operating pressure, an 8-inch decant capability with air-operated relief valve, and a float-type automatic shutoff system. The Water Tank System must include an aluminum tank with ≥1,500-gallon capacity, float-level system, anti-siphon device with 25-foot hydrant fill hose, low water alarm activating at 150 gallons, and air purge system. The Vacuum & Boom System requires electronic blower control, front-mounted vacuum hose storage, boom mounted to chassis with directional controls and emergency shutdown, plus a cab protection device. The Pumping & Hose Equipment specification calls for an 800+ gpm 4-inch submersible trash pump, 4-inch x 35-foot drain hose with curbside controls, and 25-foot x 1-inch leader hose. Additional systems include pipe storage racks with quick releases, a 450 HP engine with automatic transmission and compression-release brake, comprehensive safety and lighting equipment (backup alarm, beacon lights, LED work lights, emergency flare kit, fire extinguisher, tow hooks), and optional toolboxes and accessories such as aluminum fenders and mud flaps.
