About this file

This Statement of Work outlines the requirements for a Kimball Physics EMG-4212 Electron Gun and matching EGPS-4212 Power Supply system to be installed at NASA's Building 34 planetary magnetospheres laboratory.

The electron gun system is specified as a complete, modular subsystem designed to connect to a vacuum system and produce collimated, small spot or flood electron beams. The equipment will be used for conducting analog experiments to simulate physical processes on airless bodies in the Solar System, with particular focus on space weathering phenomena on the Moon's surface in support of the Artemis missions. NASA/NSSC intends to issue this as a sole-source contract to Kimball Physics Inc., with interested parties required to submit their capabilities by January 22, 2025 at 12:00 PM EST. The procurement falls under NAICS code 334516 and will be performed at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.

STATEMENT OF WORK

The Kimball Physics EMG-4212 Electron Gun, with its matching EGPS-4212 Power Supply, is a multi-purpose modular Electron Gun with applications in many areas. The EMG-4212/ EGPS-4212 is a complete subsystem ready to attach to a user’s vacuum system and turn on. The gun has the capability of producing a collimated, small spot or flood electron beam. This electron gun will be used in the execution of analog experiments to simulate physical processes occurring on the surfaces of airless bodies throughout the Solar System, and in particular experiments relating to space weathering phenomena on the surface of the Moon in preparation for the Artemis missions.

The electron gun will be installed in the Building 34 planetary magnetospheres laboratory.
