About this file

This document contains a statement of work for a benchtop NMR system. The statement of work specifies that the NMR must be capable of 1H and 13C analysis to quantify the amount of CO2 captured by a liquid amine sorbent being investigated for use in a next generation CO2 removal system. The NMR must be able to operate without external coolants or a computer, connect in-line for real-time analysis, and have a minimum specification of 60 MHz while testing sample volumes as low as 500 microliters. The performance period is from October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2024 at the NASA Ames Research Center. The related federal contract opportunity is a special notice for the procurement of an NMR spectrometer and accessories issued by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Shared Services Center.

STATEMENT OF WORK (Benchtop NMR)

1. Objective/Requirements

Liquid amines are currently being investigated as a sorbent for the next generation CO2 removal system. The liquid sorbent needs to be analyzed to confirm the amount of CO2 captured. A benchtop NMR with 13C capability can quantify the amount of CO2 loading in the liquid amine sorbent. The liquid sample can either be taken as a small aliquot from the test stand to be analyzed ex-situ, or a slip stream of the liquid process line can be plumbed directly to the NMR for in-line processing of CO2 loading in real time as the experiment is run through the test stand.

2. Characteristics, Scope, and Specs

NMR must be able to fit on a benchtop NMR must not require any external coolants, such as liquid nitrogen NMR must be capable of 1H and 13C analysis NMR must be able to connect in-line for real time analysis of the liquid sorbent NMR must be able to operate without the use of an external computer A perpetual license to analyze NMR spectra is required NMR must be able to operate under ambient temperature and pressure conditions NMR must have a minimum spec of 60 MHz NMR must be able to test sample volumes as low as 500 microliters

3. Place of Performance

NASA Ames Research Center, Bioengineering Branch, Bldg N239, Rooms 112B/170/180

4. Period of Performance

October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2024
