About this file

This Performance Work Statement (PWS) is for Registered Nursing Services for the Indian Health Service (IHS), specifically for the Navajo Area Indian Health Service (NAIHS) in 34 states. The contract requires a contractor to provide nursing services across outpatient, inpatient, and community health facilities, addressing a significant nursing shortage in rural and remote areas serving federally recognized Native American and Alaska Native populations.

Key requirements include providing registered nurses with a minimum of 36 months of nursing experience, at least two years in the required specialty, and maintaining current, valid nursing licenses throughout the contract period. Nurses must possess current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certifications. The contractor will be responsible for staffing, documentation, credentialing, patient care, and adhering to IHS Service Units' policies, procedures, and standards of care. Performance will be evaluated using a quality assurance matrix that measures competency, compliance, patient outcomes, professionalism, credentialing, and documentation, with payment tied to satisfactory service delivery.
