About this file
This document is a NASA Shared Services Center Recommendation and Determination to Solicit from One Source or Brand Name form for a sole source/brand name justification. NASA LaRC requires replacement air pads for an existing 14x22 AeroGo air pad system on a filler cart, specifically seeking AeroGo branded 21GHD HD Gapmaster Fixed Mount Aero-Casters. The justification highlights that using a different manufacturer would require wholesale replacement of the existing system, potentially causing significant disruption to wind tunnel testing operations. The total estimated cost is not specified, with a two-month delivery lead time from the award date. The solicitation number is 80NSSC897682Q, and the procurement is being handled by the NASA Shared Services Center.

NATIONAL AERONAUTICS AND SPACE ADMINISTRATION
NASA SHARED SERVICES CENTER
RECOMMENDATION AND DETERMINATION TO SOLICIT FROM ONE SOURCE
OR BRAND NAME
PICK ONE
Sole Source:
☐I recommend that NASA, NASA Shared Services Center negotiate with Vendor Name only for Supply or Service to be procured. The total estimated cost of this effort is Dollar Amount and the estimated period of performance is Date.
OR
Brand Name Justification:
☒I recommend that NASA, NASA Shared Services Center negotiate with only with vendors who can provide the subject band name from AeroGo for 21GHD HD Gapmaster Fixed Mount Aero-Casters. The estimated period of performance or lead-time for delivery is within two months of award date.
This recommendation is for the acquisition of supplies or services determined to be reasonably available from only one source/only one manufacture. Competition is impractical for the following reasons (please answer the questions below):
1. What are the reasons for soliciting only the suggested source/suggested brand name? Please provide the unique characteristics of the items or services along with the supporting rationale and the market research performed to substantiate your reason for the suggested source/brand name.
The 14x22 currently uses AeroGo branded aero caster systems for current cart lifts. This purchase is to replace just the air pad portion of that system. If a different manufacturer were selected, the existing system would not be able to support the different air pads and require wholesale replacement.
2. What is the impact to the government if another vendor/brand is used? Include any dollar, schedule, or compatibility impacts if possible.
If AeroGo branded air pads are not selected, the impact would be significant or major. The air pad attachment and supply system would have to be switched to a different vendor requiring much more time and money. In that time, it is possible that the air pads will leak to a point where they are no longer functional effectively stranding the cart and halting wind tunnel testing in the process.
