About this file
This Statement of Work (SOW) details NASA's requirement for manufacturing gearbox components for a urine distillate separator used in an uncrewed dormancy test stand. The contractor must produce eight specific components, including titanium and aluminum housings, a gear assembly, two Inconel shafts, and bearings and shims, with precise specifications and tolerances. Each component has a unique drawing instruction number (1420-1 through 1420-8), and the manufacturing must be completed at the vendor's facility prior to October 31, 2025.
The primary objective is to create functionally identical components to those currently aboard the International Space Station (ISS) for NASA's Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS) to evaluate the impact of system dormancy. Key requirements include using correct stock material series and grades, validating dimensions and tolerances according to drawing instructions, and completing manufacturing in a timely manner to support the dormancy test stand. The solicitation is part of NASA/NSSC's Special Notice with Solicitation Number 80NSSC25908816Q.

STATEMENT OF WORK
1. Objective/Requirements Contractor must have the capability to manufacture components that closely resemble and imitate the appearance and functionality of gearbox used to drive the urine distillate separator that is currently aboard the ISS. NASA Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS) has interest in creating a functionally similar duplicate of the urine distillate separator to properly judge the impact of dormancy on the system and thus needs to procure functionally identical components.
2. Characteristics, Scope, and Specs
The contractor shall perform the following duties:
Complete the manufacturing of all of the gearbox components listed below Ensure that the stock material used to make the components is the correct series and grade.
Validate that the dimensions and tolerance are within the specifications on the respective drawing instructions.
Complete manufacturing in a timely manner to support the Dormancy test stand, so manufacturing must be performed prior to October 31, 2025.
1 Housing 1 - Titanium 1420-1
1 Housing 1 - Aluminum 1420-2
1 Housing 2 - Titanium 1420-3
1 Housing 2 - Aluminum 1420-4
1 Gear Assembly 1420-5
1 Shaft 1 - Inconel 1420-6 1 Shaft 2 - Inconel 1420-7 1 Bearings and Shims 1420-8
3. Place of Performance Vendor Facility
4. Period of Performance Manufacturing shall be performed from the earliest applicable date through October 31, 2025.
