About this file
This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for a non-contact spectropyrometer required by the NASA Glenn Research Center. The spectropyrometer must meet specific requirements, including a temperature range of 300-2000°C, accuracy of 0.15-0.75%, fast data acquisition, and various optical and physical specifications. The related federal contract opportunity is a Special Notice for this requirement, with NASA as the procuring agency. The key details of the SOW and contract opportunity are:
The non-contact spectropyrometer must have a temperature range of 300-2000°C, accuracy of 0.15% on grey targets and 0.25-0.75% on non-grey targets, fast 10ms data acquisition, specific optical and physical characteristics, and the ability to automatically compensate for atmospheric interference. The contract opportunity is a Special Notice issued by NASA/NSSC, with the objective of procuring this non-contact spectropyrometer for use in measuring the temperature of metals/materials during mechanical testing.

STATEMENT OF WORK
Non-contact Spectropyrometer
Specifications and Requirements
NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC) is interested in a non-contact spectropyrometer for measuring the temperature of metals/materials up to 2000 °C during mechanical testing.
Specifically the non-contact spectropyrometer must meet the minimum requirements below:
1) 2x FMPI - 300-2000°C:
a. Temperature range: 300 – 2000°C or 572 – 3632°F
b. Accuracy: ± 0.15% on grey targets (measured between 500 and 2000°C). ± 0.25 –
0.75% on non-grey targets (typical).
c. Tolerance: On-line tolerance in °C or °F; tolerance reported is the real-time accuracy of the individual measurement displayed.
d. Signal Strength: Relates the measured intensity at a mid-range wavelength to the expected intensity for an ideal target at the same temperature. Signal strength is the emissivity at that wavelength if field of view is filled, no atmospheric absorption is present, and optics are clean.
e. Interference: Automatic compensation for atmospheric absorptions or emissions from combustion products or process offgas.
f. Reproducibility: ± 1°C
g. Resolution: 0.1°C or °F
h. Wavelength range: 900 – 1700 nanometers
i. Wavelength resolution: 2 nanometer
j. Number of wavelengths: 250
k. Data acquisition time: 10 milliseconds minimum
l. Analog Output: 0 – 10 VDC
m. Spectral emissivity on-screen display; includes spectral emissivity as function of wavelength stored in data files.
2) Optics:
a. Lens: NIR achromatic doublet, anti-reflective coated
b. Lens body size: 6 inches long by 1.5 inch diameter or 155 mm long by 38 mm diameter.
c. Fixed-focus lens assy., focal length 16 in.
d. Ambient temperature range: -40 to 85°C
3) Fiberoptic interconnection:
a. Fiberoptic cable: 5 meters, armored, keyed
b. Ambient temperature limit: 85°C standard
4) Chassis specifications:
a. Cooling: 150 CFM intake with washable filter
b. Power supply: 400W, 90 to 264 VAC, 47 to 63 Hz
c. Dimensions: 17.5 inches deep, 18 inches wide, 7 inches high
d. Weight: 50 lbs.
e. Construction: Heavy duty cold rolled steel, zinc plated and painted; locking drive and on/off switch cover. 19″ rack mountable with front-mounted handles
f. Certification: EIA RS-310C standard; CE for EMC and Safety standards
g. Ambient requirements: 0 – 40°C, 32 – 105°F, non-condensing
