About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for NASA Glenn Research Center's procurement of Niobium Alloy Nb521 sheet materials to support high-temperature material characterization for reusable aerospace applications. The contract, with number TBD and dated February 6, 2026, requires the contractor to produce pilot-scale Niobium alloy sheets using R&D rolling equipment in a vacuum-annealed/recrystallized condition.
The deliverables consist of two line items: four sheets of 0.060-inch nominal thickness measuring 12" width x 12" length (144 in² total area, with a note that width may be less than 12" due to pilot-scale limitations but total area will meet requirements), totaling approximately 14.80 lbs; and two sheets of 0.121-inch nominal thickness with the same 144 in² dimensions, totaling approximately 7.40 lbs. The contractor must also provide a chemistry analysis report for informational purposes. The period of performance is 46 weeks after receipt and acceptance of the order and a valid end-use statement. The NASA point of contact is located at NASA Glenn Research Center, 21000 Brookpark Road, Cleveland, OH 44135.

STATEMENT OF WORK (SOW)
Contract Number: TBD
Project Title: Procurement of Niobium Alloy Nb521 Sheets
Date: February 6, 2026
1.0 Introduction
This Statement of Work (SOW) describes the requirements for contract services to be provided to NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC). The work to be performed includes the production of Niobium alloy Nb521 sheet materials. This contract is intended to support NASA GRC’s high-temperature material characterization campaign for reusable aerospace applications.
2.0 Scope
This SOW defines the services required to procure Niobium alloy Nb521 (Nb-5W-2Mo-1Zr) sheet materials. The services include material production via pilot scale equipment.
3.0 Requirements
3.1 Material Production Services
The Contractor shall produce Niobium alloy sheet materials according to the specified compositions and dimensions using pilot scale rolling equipment.
3.1.1 Alloy Composition: The Contractor shall produce sheets of ATI Niobium (TM) Nb521
3.1.2 Material Production Process:
o The material shall be produced using the Contractor's R&D / Pilot Scale rolling process.
o Condition: Vacuum Annealed / Recrystallized.
3.1.3 Sheet Dimensions and Quantities:
o Line Item 1 (Primary Sheet Stock):
Thickness: 0.060 inches (nominal).
Dimensions: Nominal 12” width x 12” length (Total area 144 in²). Note: Width may be less than 12” due to pilot scale limitations, but total area will meet requirements.
Quantity: 4 Sheets.
o Line Item 2 (Secondary Sheet Stock):
Thickness: 0.121 inches (nominal).
Dimensions: Nominal 12” width x 12” length (Total area 144 in²).
Quantity: 2 Sheets.
3.1.4 Documentation: The Contractor shall provide chemistry analysis for information only, consistent with the R&D process nature of this procurement.
4.0 Deliverables
The Contractor shall deliver the following:
1. Nb521 Sheet (0.060" thick): 4 Sheets (approx. 14.80 lbs total estimated weight).
2. Nb521 Sheet (0.121" thick): 2 Sheets (approx. 7.40 lbs total estimated weight).
3. Documentation: Chemistry analysis report (for informational purposes).
5.0 Period of Performance The period of performance for this contract shall be 46 weeks after receipt and acceptance of order and valid end use statement.
