(16) Description: The U.S. Geological Survey Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Center in

Sioux Falls, South Dakota, has a mission requirement to support a Landsat Science Team to provide research and technical services that address scientific and engineering topics that pertain to the operation and development of USGS Landsat missions past, present and future. The Government anticipates multiple awards from this solicitation (estimated 4 to 6). Key personnel from each of the selected contracts will become non-permanent members of the Landsat Science Team for up to 5 years. The Landsat Science Team will conduct research on issues critical to the success of Landsat and the Sustainable Land Imaging (SLI) program, including data characterization and instrument science, measurement evaluation and performance, data processing and product definitions, data formats and access, user applications, scientific discovery, and use of Landsat with other international and commercial market Earth observation systems. The Team will offer timely research and science support to the USGS on topics that will affect the overall success of current and future missions. The Team plays a critical role in reducing science and application mission risks while ensuring that critical design and functionality concepts consider long term data continuity as a foundational principle for future programmatic advancements.

The Government anticipates release of a solicitation (Request for Proposal – RFP) a minimum of 15 days after the release of this synopsis, on or about 10/18/2024. All responsible sources who intend to respond to the solicitation (RFP) are requested to email the Contracting Officer at ckuhn@usgs.gov with their notice of intent to propose by 10/17/2024. Responses should clearly specify the name and contact information of the organization/institution.
