Specifications Superheated Steam Generator A superheated steam generator producing at least 10 kg/hr (22 lb/hr) of superheated steam with a temperature controlled up to 800°C (1472°F) at an operating delivery pressure of at least 50 psig (345 kPaG). Please see the Process flow stream table attached (Table 1). This superheated steam generator will be used for R&D activities at the NETL site in Morgantown supplying steam as the primary oxidant to reform natural gas at 800°C and 345 kPaG.

The system must include product steam temperature control, as well as required operational and safety features including boiler water level control and low level cutoff and high pressure relief or control. Product steam flow control is required between 2 and 10 kg/hr within 2% with an outlet pressure of 50 psig. Product steam pressure control is required for 50 psig within 5%. A blow down system will be provided for removal of accumulated minerals. The superheater will include low flow and overheat protection. The equipment will be able to safely accommodate upset conditions defined in Table 1 with outlet temperatures of 298°F with coincident 50 psig and outlet upset pressures of 53 psig with coincident 1472°F.

The system will use city water supply of 50°F and 60 psig and can produce waste water and steam. Available electric utilities include 1-3 phase 480 V.

The system will include communication and control interfaces for both local and remote operations. The system will include drawings for process flows, process instrumentation, and wiring as well as manuals with both operating and installation instructions.

It is desired that the Superheated Steam Generator will be compact and designed for operation in high bay industrial area with space heating and ventilation, yet accessible enough to permit easy access to components for maintenance and repair.

The equipment will meet the codes and standard:

ASME section 1 with stamp NRTL Designation, i.e. Underwriter’s Lab (UL) Covers and Enclosures will meet NEMA standards

The cost estimate will include ground shipping to:

National Energy Technology Laboratory 3610 Collins Ferry Rd Morgantown, WV 26507
