About this file
This is a Steel Sheet Piles Specifications document issued by the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) for the furnishing of PZ-35 steel sheet piles with ball and socket interlocks. The contract requires the supplier to furnish, fabricate, and deliver 40-foot steel sheet piles to the Stockton Weber Facility. Each sheet pile must conform to ASTM A690 Grade 50 specifications, feature free-sliding ball and socket interlocks with a minimum swing angle of 5 degrees, and include handling holes located within the top 10 inches. The piles must be new, undamaged material marked at 1-foot intervals from the pile toe. The contractor is responsible for fabricating piles as single, unspliced units, submitting pre-production documentation including welder certifications and interlock joint strength testing procedures, and providing pre-delivery documentation such as mill test certificates and a delivery plan at least 30 days prior to shipment. Delivery logistics include stockpiling at the designated facility with barge loading capability at the South Parcel location.
The contractor assumes full responsibility for obtaining all necessary permits and licenses from the California Department of Transportation, City of Stockton, and San Joaquin County, along with associated permitting and licensing charges. The contractor must also select haul routes in compliance with Caltrans and local weight limit requirements and bears liability for any damages to haul routes or fines resulting from hauling activities. DWR will maintain onsite representation during hauling operations, and the contractor must provide daily weight or load slips and signed Bills of Lading from each delivery truck to DWR's representative at the end of each operational period. All delivered steel sheet piles must be accompanied by certified test reports and the fabricator's logo and mill identification mark. Any damaged materials must be repaired or replaced immediately at no additional cost to DWR, subject to DWR approval.
