About this file

This is a Request for Information (RFI) issued by the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) for market research purposes only, and does not constitute a binding commitment or solicitation for quotes, bids, or proposals.

FSIS seeks information on commercially available STEC (Shiga toxin-producing E. coli) colony isolation procedures and selective media that can identify and isolate a variety of STEC from raw beef or other food products regardless of serogroup, from mixed populations. The RFI aims to understand the granularity levels available in STEC confirmation protocols and selective media that do not rely on STEC serogroup identification. Respondents must provide detailed capability statements demonstrating their capacity and capability; generic statements are insufficient. Required submissions include: company contact information and an authorized point of contact; names and contact information for individuals who can verify demonstrated capabilities; business size classification under NAICS 334516 (Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing) with a 1,000-employee threshold, along with documentation of any small business certifications (8(a), SDB, WOSB, HUBZone, SDVOSB); SAM UEI, CAGE Code, Tax Identification Number, and company structure; GSA Schedule contract information and applicable SINs; and identification of any Government-approved accounting systems. Responses must be submitted by 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time, December 8, 2026, to eric.schnitzler@usda.gov. Proprietary information will be protected from disclosure. FSIS reserves the right to contact respondents for clarification and may use responses to inform subsequent solicitation requirements and acquisition strategy, but provides no commitment to award a contract or pay for submitted information.
