About this file

This Statement of Work (SOW) details an electrical infrastructure upgrade for an AMSCO 7052HP Washer Disinfector at the Naval Medical Research and Training Unit (NMRTU) in Everett, Washington. The project requires a comprehensive electrical system modification, including deactivating existing power, installing a new 480V, 3-phase, 40A breaker, running approximately 350 linear feet of 1" EMT conduit with #8 AWG conductors, and reconnecting the washer's electrical system while maintaining strict healthcare facility safety standards.

Key requirements include implementing Level 4 Infection Control protocols, using licensed Journeymen or Master Electricians with healthcare electrical systems experience, and ensuring compliance with National Electrical Code, NAVHOSP INSTRUCTION 5103.1G, OSHA, and NFPA regulations. The contractor must provide pre- and post-installation reports, O&M manuals, and conduct comprehensive testing, with deliverables focused on verifying electrical system integrity, proper installation, and safe disposal of removed components. The solicitation is issued by the Defense Health Agency under contract number HT941025Q2060.

1. OBJECTIVE

Upgrade the existing electrical system to accommodate the new AMSCO 7052HP Washer Disinfector, ensuring compliance with National Electrical Code (NEC), NAVHOSP INSTRUCTION 5103.1G, and facility safety standards.

2. SCOPE OF WORK

2.1 Electrical Power Disconnection & Securing

· Deactivate electrical power at the main control room switch box.

· Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures shall be implemented per NFPA 70E and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147.

· Disconnect the existing power source feeding Washer Room 2C18.

2.2 Breaker Upgrade

· Remove the existing 480V, 3-phase, 30A breaker.

· Install a new 480V, 3-phase, 40A breaker, ensuring compatibility with the washer's rated power demand.

· Conduct insulation resistance and continuity tests before energization.

· Label the panel per ANSI Z535.4 for proper circuit identification.

· Turn over the removed breaker to facility management.

2.3 Conductors & Conduit Installation

· Provide and install new #8 AWG THHN/THWN-2 conductors rated for 90°C.

· Install 1” EMT conduit from the 1st level mechanical room to 2nd level SPD Room 2C18 (approx. 350 linear feet).

· Secure conduit with rigid clamps every 10 feet and install junction boxes where necessary.

· Ensure compliance with NFPA 70 (NEC) conduit fill and derating requirements.

2.4 Washer Electrical Connection

· Reconnect the new #8 AWG conductors to the AMSCO 7052HP Washer Disinfector Thermal Disinfection Unit.

· If allowed by NEC, install a disconnect box instead of a hardwired connection for serviceability.
