STATEMENT OF WORK
University of MS Medical Center Toxicology Laboratory 2500 North State Street Jackson, MS 39216 601-981-1605
1. Title of Project: STAT toxicology testing of lab specimens for patient diagnosis and/or treatment.
2. Scope of Work: The contractor shall provide all resources necessary to accomplish the deliverables described in this statement of work (SOW).
Specialized toxicology testing is needed for patient diagnosis and treatment.
We would anticipate sending 165 specimens ranging in price from $25 - $82/each, which may include various toxicology tests such as Levetiracetam (Keppra), Lamotrigine (Lamictal), Topiramate (Topamax), Fentanyl, blood alcohol screening and other controlled substances and drugs of abuse.
3. Background: We do not have the methodology or technology available to perform these types of special testing. UMMC is located adjacent to the VAMC and can provide timely results, thus allowing our physicians to give a quicker, more precise diagnosis, which can be a life or death matter. MS State law changed in 2018 requiring providers to check a patient’s level before they can prescribe and dispense a new prescription for controlled substances to a patient. The C&A requirements do not apply, and a Security Accreditation Package is not required.
4. Performance Period: Base Period: October 1, 2022 through September 30, 2023.
