About this file
This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for a federal contract opportunity related to blueberry genotyping. The goals of the project are to identify the genes and variants associated with organic acid and polyphenols in blueberry, to enable the development of DNA tests that can predict these traits.
The contractor is required to design 40,000 probes targeting the chromosomal regions provided by the government that control the organic acid and polyphenol traits. The contractor will reformat 2 x 96-well plates to contain the 163 blueberry samples, conduct the target capture and sequencing of the 40,000 regions, and provide the sequencing results in the requested format. The government will provide the physical location of the chromosomal regions of interest. Key deliverables include the 40,000 probes, weekly status reports, and the sequencing data for the 163 samples within 30 business days after approval of the probes.
The related federal contract opportunity is a Sources Sought notice for qualified sources, including small businesses, to provide the sequencing and preparation services using the 40,000 probes for 164 blueberry DNA samples. The government does not intend to make an award based on responses, but may issue a combined synopsis/solicitation after reviewing the capability statements.

Statement of Work (SOW) Project: Blueberry Targeted Genotyping_May 2024
GENERAL INFORMATION
1.0 Scope of Work:
The goals of this genotyping service is to identify the genes-variants- that are associated with organic acid and polyphenols to enable development of DNA tests that can predict these traits in blueberry
2.0 Background:
We have used the provider, LGC Genomics, for genotyping these 163 blueberry samples with the same technique using different probes in a previous project which resulted in identifying the chromosomal region controlling these traits. The provider still has the DNA for these samples they will use for this experiment.
CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS
3.0 Technical Requirements/Tasks Using the physical location of these chromosomal regions controlling the organic acid and polyphenol traits we provide the company, they will design 40,000 probes in these regions using proprietary bioinformatics tools and software. They will reformat the 2 x 96-well plates to contain only the 163 samples we are sequencing. They will conduct the target capture and the sequencing of the 40,000 regions targeted with the probes and provide us with the sequencing results in the format requested.
The provider will provide:
· DNA of requested 163 plant specimen
· 40,000 probes that target blueberry chromosomal regions we provide
· Molecular biology-wet lab tools that allow capture of these 40,000 DNA regions in the 163 blueberry samples and generation of sequences for each of the samples in these regions
· Short-read Illumina sequencing capability/service
· Bioinformatics pipelines to provide us with the sequences generated for each of the 163 blueberry specimen 4.0 Government Furnished:
