About this file

This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for a federal contract opportunity to provide a software package that will compute power spectral density and probability density function analysis on high sample rate continuous seismic data and store the results in a database. The key requirements include:

The software must be able to process MiniSeed and SAC seismic data types on a Linux or UNIX platform, store over 500, 6-channel, 250 sample per second, 24-bit seismic data for a 5-year period in a MySQL or Postgres database, and utilize multiple processors to compute large data sets. The software must also have a graphical user interface and an application programming interface for data retrieval.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is seeking this software to replace an outdated program and is conducting market research through a pre-solicitation announcement (Solicitation # 140G0324Q0156) to determine the availability of qualified businesses. Responses are due by June 14, 2024 and must be submitted via email. The NAICS code is 513210 Software Publishers, with a $47 million size standard.

Statement of Work Time Series Seismic Analysis Software with Probability Density

Function Database

General Requirements The contractor shall furnish all facilities, labor, and materials to provide goods/services in accordance with the terms and conditions and the specifications set forth herein.

Solicitation This solicitation is being offered as a Firm Fixed Price

Project Summary

The ANSS Southern California Seismic Network (SCSN) and Earthquake Early Warning (EEW) project monitors, analyzes and archives real-time seismic data produced by over 380 stations. The background noise characteristics of these stations is analyzed by a suite of software (PASSCAL Quick Look Extended-PQLX) which was originally created over 20 years ago by a National Science Foundation program which no longer exist (PASSCAL) in collaboration with the USGS. The USGS now seeks to replace this program with a modern equivalent which will integrate with the current state of health utilities in use at the SCSN and be maintainable using current software products.

Statement of Work

Based on the power spectral density and probability density function analysis developed by McNamarra USGS Open-File Report 2005-1438, we seek a software package that will compute these functions on high sample rate continuous seismic data and store results in a data base. In addition, the software package should have a graphical user interface which will allow the user to analyze seismic traces in addition to PDF results. The software must also have an application programming interface where stored data can be retrieved using UNIX scripts.

A complete description of the PDF data quality system and application we seek to replace can be found in the USGS Open-File Report 2010–1292 include in Appendix 1.

Requirements:

Seismic Data Types: MiniSeed, SAC. PASSCAL Computer platform: Linux or standard UNIX Database type: MySQL or Postgres

Data Capacity: Ability to store over 500, 6-channel, 250 sample per second, 24 bit seismic data for 5 year period.

Computed parameters to include:

Processing: Able to use multiple processors to compute large data sets at one time

In addition the USGS requires multi-year maintenance and support services to assist in software installation and training in Pasadena, California.
