Statement of Work

MICROWAVE CUTOVER FOR TWENTY NINE PALMS OP ROUND ELIMINATION

NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER CORONA DIVISON - RANGE SYSTEMS (RS) 10N2

1. INTRODUCTION

NSWC Corona is tasked to procure microwave cutover services for the Observation Point (OP) Round Elimination effort at Marine Corps Air and Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC) Twentynine Palms, CA.

2. BACKGROUND

The microwave backhaul loop at MCAGCC Twentynine Palms has been subject to a series of issues that interfere with its operation. Over time, troubleshooting resulted in the repair or replacement of several components. The elimination of OP Round, and the addition of two new links to complete the ring has been approved by USMC G6 Representatives.

This modification will simplify the microwave system by reducing the overall equipment and therefore the maintenance and reliability of the primary network. This results in a more reliable system that utilizes microwave end-to-end equipment instead of a repeater relay that sits in-between endpoints.

Additionally, removing OP Round from the microwave ring eliminates a source of errors in ring. The effort eliminates a remote site that is difficult and expensive to maintain.

3. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS

The contractor is required to adhere to all applicable federal standards and guidelines listed on this document. Department of the Navy (DON) standards, applicable Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS), and broadly accepted professional standards shall prevail as related to the associated industries within the tasks identified in Section 5.
