STATEMENT OF WORK
CONVERTIBLE MANUAL WIRE BONDERS
PR: ____ 4200791840_____
Background
The Detector Systems Branch at NASA/GSFC is looking to replace two obsolete, malfunctioning manual wire bonders in our packaging laboratories. These wire bonders are great to use on the many small, customized semiconductor packages that are often produced in the Detector Development Laboratory (DDL). Manual wire bonders are easy to operate, provide accessibility to more users, and are more flexible than their automatic counterparts.
Scope
The scope of this work involves delivery of two manual wire bonders to NASA/GSFC Building 11, Room S007. This includes the following:
Communicating facility requirements to GSFC for installation including electrical power needs, gases and other, Shipping the units to GSFC where GSFC personnel will move them into place, Completing installation of the units at GSFC and training of GSFC personnel by vendor.
Requirements
The units shall be commercially available models with at least 10 similar units working in the field, though customization to meet the requirements for these particular units is allowable.
The units shall each include an Olympus SZ51 microscope with 15x eyepieces.
The units shall each include an Luxuray II Illuminator Twin Array kit.
The units shall each include a 400-Watt Temperature Controller linked to the work holder heating elements.
The units shall each include a heated work holder where the work piece is held by mechanical clamp.
The units shall each include a 90º Vertical Feed Clamp Blade Assembly to hold ½ to 1 x 1 to 5 mil ribbon.
The vendor shall provide an assembly kit of parts that may be required upon installation of a wire bonder.
The units shall be configured such that conversion can occur between conventional 45º wire feed, deep access wire or ribbon, ball bonding, insulated wire and single point tab / lead bonding.
The vendor shall provide required clamp assemblies, bond tools and capillaries upon installation of the units to allow simple exchange between 45º wedge, 90º feed for wire, ribbon, and ball bonding.
The units shall be capable of bonding Au/Al wire from 0.7 to 2 mil, Au/Al ribbon from 0.5x2 to 1x10 mil, and Au ball bonding from 0.7 to 2 mil.
The units shall be capable of a bond force between 10-150 grams.
The units shall each include a three-axis manipulator so that linear motion can occur in the X, Y, and Z directions.
The units shall have a bond area that contains conductive and dissipative ESD protection.
The vendor shall provide a service engineer that has been factory trained on the specific units for onsite installation and operational training of the wire bonders.
The vendor shall provide a quote that includes shipping/freight costs.
The vendor shall provide a minimum one-year warranty on all parts, labor, and travel, beginning after installation, training, and acceptance.
Deliverables or Delivery Schedule
Deliverable schedule begins at Date of Award (DA).
DA+14 weeks: Vendor ships units to GSFC and arranges for visit to GSFC for installation of units and training of GSFC personnel on their use.
Guarantee of tool functionality
Vendor will guarantee functionality of the units, as defined by the state of the units accepted after the installation and training visit, for one year after acceptance of installation. This will include replacement of failed parts on the units, troubleshooting of problems with the systems via phone/email consultation, as well as site visits to restore system if it is non-functioning.
Government-Furnished Equipment and Government-Furnished Information
NASA GSFC will provide power, gases, and other facility needs as communicated by the vendor.
Period of Performance
The period of performance for this statement of work is fourteen (14) weeks from the date of award.
