Bears Bluff National Fish Hatchery SCOPE OF WORK
Replace Roof Supports – Fish Holding House (Asset #50000020076)
Replace damaged roof supporting structure on pole shed fish holding building as outlined below. Building consists of two parts, the original pole shed structure (main pole shed) and an add on lean-to structure (lean-to shed). All work to be conducted in main pole shed only. Rough outside dimensions of the entire building are 60-ft x 80-ft, with the main pole shed measuring 60-ft x 45-ft. Facility staff will remove and re-install any electrical conduit required to perform this work.
Services requested for bid:
-On support row 1 (Figure 1), located at the northeastern side of main pole shed building, remove and replace 4 support posts with 4 new treated one-piece 6-in x 6-in posts (3-ft concreted in ground). Install new continuous 2-in x 8-in treated header attached to existing header from side to side between posts. Install hurricane ties/straps. Existing post height is approximately 11.5-ft above grade. Expected height of installed posts is to match existing height.
-On support row 2 (Figure 2), remove and replace 5 support posts with new treated one-piece 6-in x 6-in support posts (3-ft concreted in ground). Install new continuous 2-in x 8-in treated header attached to existing header from side to side between posts. Install hurricane ties/straps. Existing post height is approximately 11.5-ft above grade. Expected height of installed posts is to match existing height.
-All stainless fasteners.
-Posts fastened to header boards with stainless through bolts, washers, and nuts (4 bolts/post). Bolts should be a minimum of 3/8-in thick and, when assembled on the header board/post, there should be a minimum of 3 bolt threads visible beyond the washer and nut.
-New header boards attached to existing header boards with stainless steel screws.
-Period of performance: May through June 2021.
-Contractor will be working around fish tanks that contain live fish and is expected to take the necessary precautions to avoid dropping/spilling material into tanks. Hatchery staff will cover tanks with tarps during work hours.
-Contractor is responsible for clean-up and removal of all trash/debris associated with this project.
-Site visit is strongly recommended prior to submission of bid.
