About this file

This Statement of Work (SOW) details the refurbishment service for 6 air flasks provided by Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY). The contract requires the contractor to perform comprehensive refurbishment services on 8-cubic-foot air flasks, meeting MIL-F-22606C specifications, with a 364-day performance period. Key refurbishment requirements include removing and replacing plugs and rings, performing visual and liquid penetrant inspections, applying zinc rich interior coating, conducting ultrasonic and gas leakage testing, applying exterior primer and Haze Gray paint, and inerting the flasks.

The detailed process involves multiple steps such as preparing surfaces, inspecting flask faces and threads, installing new components, testing for structural integrity, and applying protective coatings. The contractor must maintain material control, avoid mercury contact, and provide a Certificate of Compliance. Inspection reports must be prepared, traceable to each flask's identification marking, and either shipped with the refurbished flasks or emailed to the NNSY Technical Point of Contact. The refurbished flasks will be returned to the Receiving Officer at Building 276, Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, VA.
