About this file
This document outlines a statement of work and related federal contract opportunity. The statement of work is for Noqsi Aerospace to develop electronics for a two-channel silicon drift detector system, translating science requirements to engineering specifications, developing the electronic architecture and schematics, assisting with fabrication, testing and characterizing the electronics, and preparing documentation. The work will take place from January 2024 through September 2024 at Noqsi Aerospace in Billerica, Massachusetts.
The related federal contract opportunity is a pre-solicitation notice from NASA/NSSC for the development of a two-channel silicon drift detector timing and spectroscopy system. NASA/NSSC intends to issue a sole source contract to Noqsi Aerospace under FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i) due to Noqsi Aerospace developing the compatible equipment already in use at NASA. Interested parties may submit capabilities and qualifications by January 24, 2024 to be considered for a competitive procurement.

STATEMENT OF WORK
John P Doty, PhD, Noqsi Aerospace
1. Objective/Requirements
The development of the Quantitative Elemental Reconnaissance Instrument (QuERI) requires the design of electronics for a two-channel SDD system for spectroscopy and timing. Working the from the NICER heritage design, the electronics will integrate an FPGA in place of the microcontroller. Additionally, the electronic architecture will be designed to interface and/or control other system components (e.g., mechanical shutter, S-ray source electronics).
2. Characteristics, Scope, and Specs
The contractor shall perform the following duties:
Translation of science requirements to engineering requirements Participate in the preparation of interface control documents Develop electronic architecture and detailed schematics Provide netlists and bill of materials for layout and fabrication and consult on these activities Test and characterize the fabricated electronics Make revisions to the design as required by the test results Prepare detailed engineering documentation Prepare reports and participate in team meetings
3. Place of Performance Noqsi Aerospace, Ltd, Billerica MA
4. Period of Performance Activities shall be performed January 8, 2024 through September 30, 2024.
