STATEMENT OF WORK FORMAT

Procurement of Spectrometer Packaging Hardware for the EXCLAIM Balloon Mission

11 May 2023

PR: _____________________

Background The EXperiment for Cryogenic Large-Aperture Intensity Mapping (EXCLAIM) balloon-borne mission requires precision-machined, high-purity copper packages for its integrated silicon spectrometers to meet mission requirements. EXCLAIM aims to constrain star formation over cosmic time using a fully cryogenic telescope coupled to silicon integrated spectrometers observing from the stratosphere. Copper packaging provides critical mechanical, thermal, electrical, and optical interfaces to the remainder of the EXCLAIM instrument.

Scope

Zen Machine and Scientific Instrument shall provide copper packages for the EXCLAIM flight instrument and lab testing of integrated silicon spectrometers.

An initial delivery of parts shall be provided for fit check prior to completion of the full order.

Requirements

Parts shall be made of high-purity 101 copper.

Critical dimensions for parts shall be machined to within +/- 25 microns of design unless otherwise noted on drawings.

Deliverables or Delivery Schedule

The spectrometer packaging parts are to be delivered within 7 months of receipt of the order.

Government-Furnished Equipment and Government-Furnished Information N/A

Place of Performance

The spectrometer packages will be installed on the EXCLAIM instrument, which will be tested at NASA/GSFC and flown from Ft. Sumner, NM. Packages will also be used for testing in the lab at NASA/GSFC.

Period of Performance

The work is finished when parts are delivered.
