Procurement of High‐Precision Periscope Statement of Work
25 April 2023
NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) requires the procurement of a high‐angular precision periscope to support testing of the Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA)
Engineering Development Unit Telescope (EDUT). LISA is an ESA‐led mission with significant
NASA contributions, including a set of telescopes, with the EDUT being a product of the technology development program. This telescope will undergo significant optical metrology and calibration while at GSFC. The EDUT has very tight co‐boresighting and angular knowledge requirements relating its input and output pupils, and a periscope with arcsecond pointing deviation will enable laboratory testing.
The vendor shall deliver the periscope as described in the attached drawing (filename:
periscope_LISA_RFQ_28MAR23.pdf, drawing label: PERISCOPE_CONCEPT_12DEC22).
Repeated here are the relevant specifications included in the drawing:
1) The exiting beam max deviation (pointing error) shall be < 1.0 arcsec
2) Mirror surface flatness L/10 at L = 633 nm
3) Mirror coating: IR enhanced aluminum with >89% reflectance at 600‐1600 nm
4) Two mounting surfaces as indicated in the drawing
5) Reference design PLX part number P‐10‐1 with limiting dimensions as shown per engineering direction
In addition, this procurement shall include the shipment of the part to GSFC. A certificate of conformance will be included with the periscope. Expected delivery by July 24, 2023.
The following delivery address shall be used for the above:
Attn.: Provided upon award NASA Goddard Space Flight Center 8800 Greenbelt Rd.
Code 663, Bldg. 34 rm. C105 Greenbelt, MD 20771
