About this file
This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for a federal contract opportunity to acquire an inspection microscope. The key details are:
The microscope is required to enable inspection of focal plane assemblies for astrophysics instrumentation developed by the Observational Cosmology Lab at Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). Specific requirements include adjustable magnification from 10X to 200X, a wide field of view, and an integrated camera and monitor. The microscope will be used in the GSFC laboratories, and the work must be completed by January 1, 2025.
The related federal contract opportunity is for a Nikon SMZ18 Stereomicroscope, which is a brand name requirement. The solicitation is being issued by the NASA Shared Services Center. No additional details on the procurement timeline, pricing, or set-asides are provided in the information given.

STATEMENT OF WORK
1. Objective/Requirements
The Observational Cosmology Lab at GSFC develops technologies, instruments, and missions for astrophysics in the microwave through far-infrared. This includes the development of custom microfabricated superconducting detectors and integrated focal plane assemblies. The required microscope will enable inspection of focal plane assemblies for broken wirebonds and solder joints, proper adhesion of chips to their substrates, and detector integrity.
2. Characteristics, Scope, and Specs
The inspection microscope will provide adjustable magnification (roughly 10X-200X) over a wide field of view with a built-in camera and monitor.
3. Place of Performance
The microscope will be used in the laboratories at Goddard Space Flight Center.
4. Period of Performance
The work is complete when items are delivered and no later than 1 January 2025.
