About this file

This document is a Statement of Work for a large centrifugal air compressor to meet the research needs of the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). The key requirements are for a compressor that can deliver 9,800 SCFM of compressed air at 250-500 psig, with a 1-year warranty. The vendor shall deliver the compressor, provide commissioning and training, and submit O&M manuals.

The related federal contract opportunity is a combined synopsis/solicitation for the large centrifugal air compressor, issued by AFRL. It is a Request for Quotation with a set-aside type and NAICS code not specified. The evaluation will be based on lowest price technically acceptable, considering price and technical acceptability against the requirements. Quotes are due by 16 August 2024, and the requested delivery is 12 months after award. The solicitation incorporates various FAR and DFARS clauses, and the point of contact is Mike Hornberger, Contract Specialist.

Statement of Work

Large Centrifugal Air Compressor

Document Date: 16 MAY 2024

Scope: To obtain a centrifugal compressor to meet AFRL research needs of net compressed air output of 9,800 SCFM (ISA) (12.5 LBM/SEC) at an output pressure range immediately downstream of an aftercooler of 250 - 500 psig. Both flow rate and pressure rating to be within minus zero and plus 4 percent tolerance. Vendor shall deliver a compressor(s) to meet the requirement, provide commissioning and training (after installation into the flow system by the government), and provide O&M manuals along with a 1-year warranty after acceptance.

Background: Currently RQ uses high pressure, high temperature air delivery system to simulate altitude and velocity of propulsion systems designed for Air Force platforms. RQ is requiring a new system that meets new pressure and temperature requirements for research. The centrifugal air compressor will deliver the necessary air mass flow to complete Air Force research mission.

Requirements/Salient Characteristics: Requirements and features are given in Attachment 1 -

Spec Sheet Section (22 16 19.36 20) - Large Centrifugal Air Compressors (over 500 HP).

Submittal procedures are given in Attachment 2 - Submittal Procedures (01 33 00).
