Southwest Fisheries Science Center
Operations and Management
BACKGROUND: NOAA National Marine Fisheries Service, Southwest Fisheries Science Center (SWFSC) has aging Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) that require replacement and updating. These VFDs are essential for controlling the speed of various pumps and fans. Many of the VFDs control critical equipment like the Aquaria life support systems or the garage exhaust fans which remove dangerous gasses like carbon monoxide. Over time, the VFDs have become less reliable, leading to potential inefficiencies and increased maintenance costs.
SCOPE OF WORK: The Contractor shall provide labor, equipment and materials necessary for the installation and startup of the sixteen (16) ABB ACH580 variable frequency drives (VFD’s) highlighted in yellow in attachment 1. The contractor shall be certified for the installation and startup of ABB VFD’s.
TASKS:
Provide and install new ABB ACH580 Variable Frequency Drives with bypasses for the 16 VFDs highlighted yellow in attachment 1:
a. Backup and record all existing drive parameters and all new drive parameters
b. VFD’s shall be model ACH580 UL rated and CE marked.
c. Drives shall be supplied in UL Type-1 enclosure for indoor or panel mount installation.
d. Drives shall be supplied with Eclipse Bypass with Main Power Disconnect.
e. Interactive KeyPad with Hand-Off-Auto function.
f. An internal 5% impedance input line reactor to ensure compliance with IEEE standard 519.
g. All VFD’s shall include EMI/RFI filters and shall meet product standard EN 61800-3 for the First Environment restricted level.
h. Drives are supplied with Four (4) resident serial communication protocols; Siemens FLN, Johnson N2, Modbus RTU and BACnet LAN – MS/TP. An RS-485 port is also provided.
i. Serial communications – the bypass and VFD shall be capable of being monitored and or controlled via serial communications. Provide communications protocols for ModBus; Johnson Controls N2; Siemens Building Technologies FLN (P1) and BACnet in the bypass controller.
j. VFD’s are UL listed and rated for 100,000 AIC short circuit withstanding.
k. Input speed signals are designated for 0 (4) to 20 mA and 0 (2) to 10 VDC.
l. Provide an ABB start-up form/report
