Text version

Statement of the work Crop Genetic Research Unit is responsible of organizing annual tests in National Cotton Variety Test (NCVT). The purpose of the NCVT is to evaluate cotton cultivars of private companies and public breeding programs at more than 20 locations across Cotton Belt in U.S. and store and distribute yield and fiber quality data to cotton breeders. Every year, seed samples harvested by cooperators in the program are submitted to an outside vendor, Eurofins, to measure seed quality traits including oil, protein, and gossypol. The seed quality data are used by the U.S. cotton breeders to their breeding programs in cotton production.
