About this file
This statement of requirements outlines the technical specifications for a field flow fractionation replacement instrument to be installed at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The instrument must meet minimum standards for cross flow rates, pressure limits, solvent compatibility, and integration with existing detectors. Installation is required within 30 days of delivery to the specified location. Training for two NIST personnel must also be provided upon installation. The initial warranty is for one year and covers all equipment, parts, labor and travel. Four optional items may be exercised within 12 months and include additional channels, software, and an extended warranty. Delivery within 60 days of award and completion of optional items within 60 days of exercising the option are required.

STATEMENT OF REQUIREMENTS
TITLE: Procurement of Field Flow Fractionation Replacement
LAB REQUESTING SERVICE: Material Measurement Laboratory
I. BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Materials Measurement Science Division (MMSD) provides the measurement science, measurement standards, and measurement technology required to enable world-leading characterization of materials in support of the nation’s needs for the determination of the composition, structure, and properties of materials. In partnership with U.S. industry, government agencies and other stakeholders, the Division develops state-of-the-art instrumentation, methods, models and software to accurately and precisely measure materials over a range of length and time scales. The Division provides benchmarking and validation of emerging materials analysis methods, and disseminates reference materials, standards and scientific data to foster innovation and advance a wide range of technologies, such as those for public safety, forensics, homeland security and nanomanufacturing.
The Nanomaterials Research Group (NRG), within the MMSD, develops and disseminates measurement science, standards, and technology pertaining to the measurement of physico-chemical properties of micro- and nanoplastics (MNPs); determines, compiles, evaluates, and disseminates key data needed to establish relationships between the performance, degradation, and risks associated with MNPs and the material sources.

Warranty shall cover the cost of parts, labor and travel required to restore the equipment to normal operation. Includes system testing against performance metrics, laser alignments as needed, and optimization. Includes free software upgrade to most recent version for configured system.
The extended warranty shall also include:
• On-site preventive maintenance visit for 1 day per year.
• System testing against performance metrics for pumps, flow controllers, and general optimization.
• Free software upgrades to most recent version for configured system.
OPTIONS
The following CLINS (0003 through 0006) may be exercised at the Government’s discretion, at any time within 12 months of award.
CLIN 0003: Option for channel capable of concentrating sample volume from the channel to at least
2x
CLIN 0004: Option for channel that has variable spacer heights from 250 μm to >490 μm and are compatible with organic solvents
